The spokesman and Head, Corporate Communication of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Philip Kyanet, has resigned his appointment with the agency.
Kyanet, a Deputy Director, was appointed Head of the NIMASA Corporate Communication unit in April 2020. He took over from Isichei Osamgbi who was redeployed to the Special Duties (External Relations and Technical Cooperation) unit in the office of the Director General.
It was revealed by authoritative sources that Kyanet resigned to take advantage of the “golden handshake” offered by the agency.
He reportedly submitted his resignation letter in March, giving the mandatory three months notice.
An impeccable source stated thus: “I don’t know why he decided to quit at this time but I know he wants to take advantage of the golden handshake available to staff of his cadre.
“Also, I know that the Corporate Communication unit is not as vibrant as it used to be. The work he should be doing is now being done by someone else in the office of the Director General. I think Mr. Kyanet no longer finds fulfillment in the role,” the source However, Kynaet, who has worked at NIMASA for 16 years, out of which ten years were in the public relations unit, could not be reached for comment over his decision to quit.
