Schneider Electric Nigeria observed Safety Day. This event’s goals were to commemorate the achievement of 1189 days without a Lost Time Injury (LTI) and to honour the FS Team’s hard work on a job well done.
The Field Service Leader, Nnadozie Ogbuehi, gave a welcome speech before the event began. He spoke to the team about the milestone they had reached and urged them to always put safety first in everything they do.
The welcome address by the EHS Leader, Stanley Okoro, emphasized the importance of applying the S.A.F.E. First principle before any task is to be completed and stated that safety should be at the forefront of any operation. This year’s theme is “We care for each other,” which is one of the schneider electric guiding principles was discussed and he told us that we are to watch out for ourselves and others because everyone is important for Schneider Electric. He also discussed the advantages of reporting near misses or safety Opportunities using the safety app Enablon Go to ensure ongoing process improvements.
In Line with the theme of the day, Dr. Patrick led a workshop on mental health and wellbeing to assist us understand the difficulties that could emerge while working on-site or in the office and how to handle them. In order to maximize our abilities and develop our reserves, we were also instructed on the kinds of foods we should take or stay away from.
A few staff members also told their “My SE Story,” which detailed the difficulties they had to face while working on site and how they overcame them. Everyone learned something from this. The event was concluded by the presentation of awards to outstanding individuals for the year, such as; the Safety Persona award for those who demonstrated the SE Safety Culture while working on site or at work. Individuals with the highest Safety Opportunities were also recognized with awards in other to encourage them and inspire others.
The event was concluded with a lot of enjoyable activities, and the closing remarks highlighted the main objective of the day, which was the amazing milestone that had been reached and gratitude was expressed to everyone who had contributed to making it happen. The commitment by the team was also re-emphasized by letting them know that Everyone’s responsible for Safety in the workplace and not only the workplace, but each also& every place at every second in other to reduce risks and hazards in any operation performed.
