…Delta Communities applaud initiative to boost health

Energia Limited, an indigenous company has been active for the exploration and production of oil and gas since December 2009. It is the operator of Ebendo marginal field with Oando Petroleum Development Company as its Joint Venture (JV) partner in OML 56 in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State.
Recently, the JV partners organized a medical outreach to reach six communities in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area as part of Corporate Social Responsibility to their host community. Community members gathered to witness the flag off ceremony by top management of the JV partners and a representative of the Delta State government. Recognizing the importance of host communities, the joint venture says it has spent over N2 billion on various developmental projects as well as N1 billion on various sustainable projects including the medical outreach.
According to the Managing Director of Energia, Leste Aihevba, “We will continue to work tirelessly to seek partnership opportunities for operating the Kwale Central Hospital into a fully functional referral hospital that will provide improved health care delivery for all the communities within Ndokwa West Local Government Area.”
On his part, representative of Oando Plc, Femi Onasanya, made it known that “This community health outreach programme will be very beneficial, the turnout has a lot of people in attendance and they are very happy that the medical facility is brought to their doorstep.”
While the outreach kicked off young and old people file out in their numbers to get themselves checked by a team of medical personnel assigned by the JV partners.
Some community members extolled the company for its gestures which has given medical care for the elderly and young people such that they are medically fit through the process.
On the aspect of peace, the community was advised to maintain peace so that the company will operate in a conducive environment.
The Energia, Oando JV ‘health is wealth’ is unique and members of the community will benefit from the initiative.
