Former Governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi, and Alex Otti, Governor of Abia State attended the funeral service of Onyeka Onwenu in Lagos.
Onwenu’s service of songs was held on Friday morning at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, and was attended by prominent figures.
Recall that Onwenu collapsed at the 80th birthday party of Stella Okoli, founder of Emzor Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company on July 30 and was confirmed dead at Reddington Hospital in Lagos.
The burial ceremony was held at the Ebony Vaults, Ikoyi, 3 James George Street, Off Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Abraham and Tijani Ogunlende, the sons of the late singer, earlier revealed that the doctors “made every effort to save her life”.
They described their mother as a “national treasure, an icon and legend” whose impact will be deeply felt.
Abraham and Tijani also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from the public and dignitaries.
