…As Prisca Sam-Duru wins N5m Award
The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) management honored Prisca Sam-Duru of Vanguard Newspaper with a sum of N5 million on Friday.
She was recognized for writing NLNG stories for prizes in literature and science over the last two decades.
Speaking at the event,
NLNG General Manager, External Relation and Sustainable Development, Andy Odeh stated that the award is meant to celebrate media professionals for telling the NLNG stories.
The event was tagged, “Celebrating the voices of impact Nigeria Prizes @ 20.”
Furthermore, Odeh highlighted the significance of in-depth reporting, advising journalists not to rely on press releases.
Odeh also announced the introduction of the NLNG prize for Energy reporting.
The Keynote Speaker, Funke Egbemode, former president of the Nigeria Guild of Editors (NGE), called on corporate organizations to emulate NLNG by honoring journalists.
She described NLNG as a figure of selflessness in celebrating the voices of impact and breaking new grounds.
Egbemode stressed the significant contributions of the media in Nigeria, calling for greater recognition of their work.
She said, “Those who don’t know what to do with the media see us as enemies.”
