The Nigeria Customs Service, Lilypond Export Command, has announced that it facilitated export activities worth $937,357,129.90 for the third quarter of 2024.
The Customs Area Controller, Lilypond, Ajibola Odusanya, disclosed that the amount was from agricultural and manufactured goods, representing a 407.05% when compared to the $184,880,029.35 recorded in Q2 2024.
Comptroller Odusanya attributed the achievement to the enhanced efficiency following the consolidation of export seats at the Command.
He said, “The value of shipments in the third quarter saw a remarkable increase of 407.05%, from $184,880,029.35 to $937,357,129.90. This substantial rise can be attributed to enhanced efficiency following the consolidation of export seats at the Command.
“For the month of September 2024 alone, LEXC processed 3,363 export containers, with a total weight of 221,961.53 metric tons. The total value of exports declared for September amounted to $202,267,32 7.46”, he added.
In addition, the Comptroller noted that the sum of N1,493,326,491.83 Nigerian Export Supervision Scheme Revenue was generated from September’s export activities.
“The command also collected N88,337,1 76.00 in duties on exports of previously imported goods, based on the provisions of the 2022 Fiscal Policy.”
Acknowledging the gains of consolidation of export processing, Comptroller Odusanya stated that it has clearly yielded significant gains, reflected in the impressive increases across key export metrics.
“The primary benefit was the elimination of bureaucratic bottlenecks that previously hindered smooth export processes. The centralisation of export operations has allowed for faster processing times for export documentation, improved compliance with NCS guidelines, a more transparent and traceable export value chain,” he stated.
