Addressing the audience recently in his sponsor remark at the 40th Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), All Convention Luncheon with the theme: “Surmounting Insecurity and Threats in the Oil and Gas Industry: Evolving Strategies,” Mr. Wale Olafisan, Group Managing Director (GMD), of AMNI International Petroleum Development Company Limited, urged stakeholders in the industry to be more efficient in deploying energy.
He said they cannot afford to do what others are doing which might not yield positive results for the sector.
“We must take a step forward in energy transition to security because without energy there will be no security.”
“I want to encourage all of us as professionals to think more and see energy transition as an opportunity to deploy better technology to be more efficient in the industry. But remember, God has given us oil and gas, we should benefit from it.”
According to Olafisan, gas is good for Nigeria and Africa. The pride of Africa is its gas resources which will make the world to look at the continent as a bright shining star.
He stated further that AMNI is a gas company with oil and it is developing Tullow Oil Field that is expecting first oil before the first half of 2023 which will add to national reserve.
The AMNI GMD disclosed that the company has not experienced or involved in oil theft. AMNI is a leading partner in gas development in Nigeria and the company is also involved in oil exploration activities in the country.
Thus: “As small as we are, we are sitting on sizeable percentage of gas reserves in Nigeria and out of 200 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas, we contribute substantial amount to the country.”
