-By Felix Douglas
Speaking at the Midstream & Downstream Leaders Forum at the Nigerian International Energy Summit (N.I.E.S), Chief Executive of OVH Energy Marketing Limited, emphasised on the need for energy transition and cleaner fuels.
According to him, Nigeria needs workable refinery with infrastructures, investment in pipelines and depots to bring products to consumers.
Apart from Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), he said, since this is a decade of gas, Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) are substantial part of energy mix in Nigeria.
Stokman made it known that issues of ageing fleet and depots must be addressed as the country makes transition in the midstream while investments are required.
“In the midstream end, we need pipelines, jetties and depots to supply consumers and the primary responsibility is to make the business safe. The pipelines should not leak. The vessels should be able to discharge products with investment in people.”
The OVH Chief Executive advised that ageing fleets should be changed. Since the market is competitive, PMS should be deregulated and every operator in the downstream needs to upgrade facility for improvement.
