Energy Transition is a Moving Train- Prof. Iledare

Prof. Wumi Iledare

-Felix Douglas

Representing the President of International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE), Prof. Jean-Michel Glachant, Prof. Wumi Iledare appreciated the Commission Chief Executive, Nigeria Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and his counterpart Mr. Ahmed Farouk of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) including the Executive Secretary of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Dr. Bello Gusau for supporting Nigeria Association for Energy Economics (NAEE) for some years.

He said IAEE is an inter disciplinary organisation where anyone who is interested in studying the economics of energy is welcomed.

IAEE has affiliates across the globe with almost five thousand members.

He thanked Prof. Yinka Omorogbe, President of NAEE for her outstanding contributions in developing the association in Nigeria and across Africa.

It will be recalled that Prof. Iledare, a past president of NAEE, also served as international president of IAEE with the privilege of opening conferences in several parts of the world. IAEE has been fortunate also to have international presidents to open conferences since 2008.

He was delighted that IAEE was given the opportunity to welcome its members who are in Nigeria to attend NAEE conference with the hope of expanding the scope because energy transition is not static.

It is real and dynamic while paying attention to it and suggesting that stakeholders must walk the transition talk carefully and methodically. “Everyone should enter the train because it is already moving and will not wait for anyone.”
