Joining his counterparts in some southern states, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has signed the Anti-Open Grazing bill into law.
The law is to prohibit the open grazing and trespass of cattle and for connected purposes.
The House of Assembly passed the bill on September 9 after it scaled the second reading and it went through a public hearing.
It will be recalled that the southern state governors met recently in Enugu to reaffirm their support for anti-open grazing amidst other pressing issues such as the Value Added Tax (VAT) which the Chairman of the Forum, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State acknowledged that state governments ought to be collecting VAT instead of federal government.
Other states such as Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states have earlier signed the anti-open grazing bill into law.
