Kaduna-Abuja Attack: Tinubu Cancels Colloquium for Victims

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has cancelled the 13th birthday colloquium in honour of victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attacked by suspected terrorists on Monday evening.

Tinubu, who announced the cancellation a few minutes after the official kick-up of the event, described it as a national tragedy.

He said: “I am very sad about the situation and it calls for sober reflection,” before cancelling the event, which already attracted many important dignitaries.

He said he cannot be celebrating while the nation is mourning.

The APC presidential aspirant appealed for understanding of guests already seated and urged religious leaders to pray for the victims of the train attack.

Asiwaju shows sympathy over the attack where several people were killed.

He announced the cancellation just after the National Anthem at the colloquium, described the attack as a national tragedy.

“I am very sad about the situation and it calls for sober reflection,” he noted.

He added: “I have just been informed of a very sad incident in our country; very sad indeed, that over 60 people were killed and injured on the Abuja-Kaduna train last night. That is a very serious incident and it calls for sober reflection.

Prayers were led by Lagos chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Stephen Adegbite and Chief Imam of Lagos Sheikh Sulaiman Abuo Nola.
