Kyari says Nigeria Oil Production now 1.7mbpd

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Mele Kyari, says Nigeria’s oil production has reached 1.7mbpd as of Saturday.

The NNPCL boss who stated that the production is coming from 1.28  million barrels per day a few months ago, did not state whether the growth in production includes condensate.

However, some stakeholders are asking for the technical presentation regarding Kolman River and  Bornu Basin (the Nigerian sector of the Chad Basin,)  discoveries to be presented for discussions by experts across the globe. They want NNPCL to emulate Namibia which was a frontier region before it made major discovery.  By July this year, the Namibia discovery will be the major focus of an international conference being organized by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), Africa Region..The association is one of the world’s largest professional geological societies with about 17,000 members across 129 countries. The technical details of that discovery will be presented to the world.

However, the situation is not the same with the Kolman   River and Bornu Basin discoveries.

The NNPCL helmsman keeps telling Nigerians that the Kolman River field is a  one billion barrels field

OPEC in February cut Nigeria’s production level to 1.5 mi; million barrels per day because of her inability to meet the 1.7 production target set for her.
