NCDMB Donates Relief Items to Flood Victims

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has commenced the distribution of relief items to flood impacted citizenry in different Local Government Areas of Bayelsa State.

The exercise which kicked off on Tuesday, comes just days after the Board distributed palliatives to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) at Igbobene and the Oxbow Lake Pavilion.

The relief items were given to paramount rulers and leaders of the communities by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Engr. Simbi Wabote.

Engr. Wabote who was represented by the Manager, Corporate Communications NCDMB, Esueme Kikile, informed the communities that “the Board provided the Palliatives as its way of supporting and empathizing with them.”

Communities that benefited from the latest round of NCDMB Palliative Distribution were: Akenfa, Polaku, Tombia and Amarata in Yenagoa LGA.

The leaders and citizens thanked the ES for assisting them in their time of need, stressing that the relief materials would go a long way in ameliorating their sufferings.

According to the Board, there will be more outreach to other LGAs in the ensuing days.

It is worthwhile to note that seven of the eight local government areas of Bayelsa State have been affected by the flood that has forced many residents into IDP camps after hundreds of buildings and farmlands were submerged by flood.

The United Nations on Saturday described the flood disaster in the state as a crisis of major proportion deserving attention.
