Nigeria Electricity Grid Crashes to Zero Megawatts

Nigerian electricity crashed to zero Megawatts due to a fault that led to blackouts across the country.  Similar collapsed was experienced in June 12 twenty days after Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) activated a partial contract order for the Nigerian electricity market to guarantee 5000 MW. It was confirmed by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) in a statement released on Wednesday.

The statement partly read; “Dear Customers, we regret to inform you of a system collapse on the National grid at precisely 11:27a.m today, July 20.

“We are in talks with the Transmission Company of Nigeria to ascertain the cause of the collapse and a possible restoration timeline.

“We will keep you updated on the situation,” the electricity distribution company said.
