Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited is one of the foremost gas companies in Nigeria, solely known for gas sales. The mega gas company has, to its credit, six trains, with the seventh set to be completed soon.
NLNG was one of the energy companies represented at the recent annual conference and award of the National Association of Energy Correspondents (NAEC).
Speaking at the event, the General Manager, External Relations of NLNG, Mrs. Eyono Fatayi-Williams, commended NAEC for its consistency in organising its annual conference, which, she said, undoubtedly brings together industry leaders to discuss the trajectory of the industry and its role in national development.
Fatayi-Williams remarked that the theme of the conference was apt, in view of many opportunities open to operators in Nigeria in the oil and gas sector to develop negotiations of global intervention about energy mix.
She added that the conference’s discussions will expand synergy for the oil sector and other stakeholders which will contribute to national development.
She further opined that since the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) participated in the event, the deliberations would pave way for significant progress in the industry.
According to her, “Beyond revenue generation, the oil and gas sector continues to stimulate development structures and the enablers in our country through creation of jobs, human capacity development and numerous CSR initiatives that are targeted at the infrastructure base of Nigeria.”
The NLNG External Relations General Manager noted that the gas company is a global one helping to build a better Nigeria.
“Our commitment in Nigeria NLNG goes beyond just rhetoric. Recently, we were recognised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, for the initiatives and impact we have made on Nigeria content development.”
She also spoke on the scholarship initiatives of the company for all levels of education and academic activities in Nigeria, disclosing that NLNG has been consistent in sponsoring and boosting education in the country.
She added that the company’s capacity development initiatives for indigenous vendors through empowerment scheme and Bonny Vocational Center which remains one of the centers for excellence for technical skills.
“As part of its good gesture towards advancement of education, NLNG has constantly for the last 15 years run the literature and science prizes which focus on developing literary works and science research in-country,” she said.
Fatayi-Williams stated further that NLNG’s recent strategic infrastructure development, with the ongoing construction of the Bonny-Polo road that will link Bonny Island to mainland Rivers State, is another giant stride for the company in terms of its support for social infrastructures.
She used the occasion to disclose that the company is currently celebrated its 20 years as an incorporated company and in October it will be celebrating 20 years of safe and reliable production. NLNG’s first cargo was shipped on October 1999.
The NLNG chief publicist enjoined journalists to be part of the company’s celebration in order to give it wider coverage which has been one of its major objectives.
