Chief Operating Officer, Gas and Power of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Engr. Yusuf Usman, disclosed that the corporation is building a gas industrial base. “The more you have gas-based industries in Nigeria, the more advantage you have to compress this gas and send it for export. The export makes revenue for you but when you balance it, you are looking for economic growth of Nigeria promoting sustainable development.”
He stated that NNPC is working assiduously to promote domestic gas utilization and expand its export footprint in line with the Federal Government declaration that 2020 is a gas year for Nigeria.
“Actually, you can see the gas area and that is what has made this year, the year of gas.” He said the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources has declared during the Nigeria International Petroleum Summit that 2020 is the year of gas. This aspiration will be actualized by the corporation.
