As part of efforts to give a conducive learning environment for students with Special Needs in Rivers State, the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Cosmopolitan has flag off the renovation of three classrooms, Library and ICT center at the Special Needs School, Creek Road, Port Harcourt.
President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Cosmopolitan, Izobe Spiff at the flag off event said the club is doing all it can to support, encourage, and provide basic education needs especially for students with special needs.
“We are renovating and equipping a block of classrooms for them, which houses three classrooms. We are also renovating their library and ICT centre, which roofs are falling off. The Rotary club of Port Harcourt Cosmopolitan has been at the forefront in proving a conducive learning and teaching environment for the teachers and students of the special needs school through our sustainable projects, since 2019”.
On his part, the Governor, Rotary International District 9141, Mightyman Aye-Dikoru while flagging off the project shortly after laying foundation to kick start the project, said Rotarians are concerned in positively impacting on lives especially for the less privileged.
The Rotary District governor said “The Project when completed will make Teaching for the teachers easy and provide comfortable learning environment for the Special Needs Students. I commend he club for embarking on this superlative project. Rotary will continue to embark on live changing projects in River State”.
On her part, the Vice Principal of the Special Needs School, Creek Road, Port Harcourt, Urang Ata-Egit, with expressions of happiness, said the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt Cosmopolitan has been at the fore front of making basic education comfortable for students of the school. She called on other humanitarian organizations and individuals to emulate the gesture of the Rotary club of Port Harcourt Cosmopolitan.
Our correspondent Precious Ahiakwo-Ovie reports that Rotary District leaders present at the event includes Past District Governor, Nze Anizor, and Past Assistant Governor Innocent Iyalla. Others are Assistant Governors, Sandra Akaralo, Stanley Nsofor and Emmanuel Oko-Jaja.
Our correspondent also reports that the project covers the Rotary International Areas of Focus of Basic Education and Literacy, Community Economic Development and Empowerment, and Peace and Conflict Resolution.
