Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, representing Cross River North Senatorial District, graciously welcomed the Women in Energy Network (WIEN) today at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja. Led by President Eyono Fatayi-Williams, WIEN, a non-profit organization, visited to express their dedication to advancing Nigeria’s developmental aspirations in the energy sector.

Senator Jarigbe underscored his unwavering commitment to championing legislation that fosters female entrepreneurship, combats discrimination, and establishes an enabling environment for women to excel across all sectors. He affirmed his role in supporting WIEN’s vision, aligning with Nigeria’s objectives of economic development, sustainability, and social equity, thereby illuminating Nigeria with the brilliance of empowered women leading the way.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Gas, Senator Jarigbe emphasized that WIEN’s advocacy for greater inclusion of women in the energy sector transcends gender equality, contributing to enhanced capacity and innovation within the industry. He acknowledged the pivotal role of leadership and mentorship in nurturing the next generation of female engineers, scientists, and leaders in the energy domain.

In her address, WIEN President Mrs. Eyono Fatayi-Williams highlighted the organization’s mission to achieve gender diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where women can thrive and significantly contribute to the energy industry. She lauded the current administration’s efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion, expressing WIEN’s readiness to collaborate and support the Senate Committee’s research and development initiatives in energy transition.

Accompanying the President were Bassey Adie, Director Strategic Partnerships & Conferences, WIEN; Asanimo Omezi, Executive Secretary WIEN; and Rita Kwentoh, WIEN Member. Additionally, Senator Jarigbe was honored by WIEN as an advocate for diversity and inclusion, recognizing his exemplary service in the Senate.
