The NIMASA Corporate, Merit Awards Night

…As Total E&P emerges best compliance IOC of the year
It was a delightful day for the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), a government agency saddled with responsibility of regulating the country’s maritime sector. The agency demonstrated that it believed reward strengthens labour. The corporate and merit awards were nothing short of celebration as 181 staff who had put in long years of service ranging from 15 to 30 were appreciated and encouraged to do more for the agency.
Aside rewarding long term commitment, the professional dexterity award was a contest among twelve outstanding staff of which Constance Omagbemi of the legal service department won and was also awarded with a sum of one million naira and automatic promotion to the next level.
According to Omagbemi: “There was hope in 2017, and I didn’t relent at least in 2019 I was thankful that my efforts are being rewarded.”
As the day began to fade out fast the atmosphere became more electrifying as popular artiste in the music industry regaled guests and participants at the event. It was a night of honour for operators in the maritime industry and some of their counterparts in the oil and gas sector.
Industry players were not left out of the awards, the GAC Shipping Limited won overall shipping company of the year, Tin Can Island received the best terminal award, while Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, was the best maritime training institution in 2019. On the aspect of oil and gas, Total E&P received the best compliance award for the International Oil Companies (IOC) including other companies in both sectors.
Speaking at the Awards Night, Secretary to the Federal Government, Boss Mustapher, pointed out that, “This government will continue to support the maritime industry because for it we will have the sustainability of our economic growth and development”
The cake was central of attraction because it was a replica of the agency magnificent edifice at Apapa in Lagos and also symbolises the strength and commitment of everyone who has made the enduring journey.
